ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – Two hundred twenty-five scholars and trainees here graduated from different technical-vocational courses through the Tulong Trabaho Scholarship Program of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan, Inc. (CCIFII) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Lanao del Norte.
There were nine training providers that gave training on dressmaking, driving, bread and pastry production, electrical installation and maintenance, among others.
“We have to strengthen the business and technical-vocational partnership because it aims not only to provide free technical vocational training and uplift the skills but seeks to address the job skills mismatch of our workers,” said Reggie Punongbayan CCIFII president.
Meanwhile, TESDA Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Noralaine Rasul called on the graduates to maximize the skills they gained in order to uplift their socio-economic status and have a comfortable life.
Mira Adlaon, 48 years old, who completed the bread and pastry production course, plans to start a business.
“Nagpasalamat kaayo ko ug dako kay nakaavail ko aning scholarship kay dili jud tanna makaapil. Nalipay ko kay isa ko sa nakaapil. Nakatabang ni ug dako sa amoa,” she said.
[I am very thankful because I was able to get this scholarship because not everyone can have this. I am happy because I was one of the trainees. This is a big help to us.]The training providers include Christian Horizon School, Dalipuga Skills Training Center, Hidjirah Technical Academy, I-ACESS Institute Of Technology, and St Laurence Institute Of Technology, among others.
