The city government of Iligan in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, conducted the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan & Contingency Plan Workshop for nine (9) project barangays of the City, namely: Barangay Digkilaan, Bonbonon, San Roque, Santigao, Upper HInaplanon, Mandulog, Ubaldo Laya, Pugaan and Abuno wherein the DILG officers were invited as resource persons and facilitators during the workshop.

Acting Program Manager Villebette Sato presented the overview of RA 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction Act of 2010, while OIC City Director Maria Maida Daniot discussed the LDRRM Fund utilization rules and guidelines.

Present during the activity are the officials of the identified barangays, together with their SB Chairperson on DRR, Barangay Secretary, Barangay Treasurer and SK Chairperson.

The objective of the activity is to Improve the skills of the barangay officials in fully utilizing resources as they pursue good local governance in the aspect of disaster risk reduction and management. Specifically, to review and update their respective Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (BDRRMP) & Contingency Plan (CP).

The activity is part of the project “Strengthening Capacity for Conflict-Sensitive Preparedness in Vulnerable Communities in Mindanao” (CONSENT DRR 2) funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and the German Red Cross through PRC Iligan Chapter.
