In integrating the Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanism for a conflict-sensitive Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) planning process, DILG 10, together with the city officials of Iligan, conducted a multi-stakeholder meeting to lay the foundation of the pilot activities prior to the BDRRM planning process where EWER practices will be added.

The implementation of the EWER mechanism at Mainit, one of the conflict-affected areas in Iligan city, shall be made possible through GIZ, a Germany-based development agency providing services in the field of international development cooperation, in partnership with local non-profit group Pailig Foundation, Inc.

During the meeting, LGOO IV Vel Brylle Inot provided an overview of DILG programs, outcome areas, and technical services to GIZ and Pailig Foundation members and officers. Further, the city government assured the international group that they are supportive of their initiatives for the development of communities in Iligan City.

Present during the meeting were City Administrator Darwin Manubag, City Councilors Betsy Zalsos and Datu Lanelio Sangcoan, and Jules Padilla, representing City Mayor Frederick Siao.
