ILIGAN CITY (PIA)–The Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH) is planning to accelerate and expand its medical services for the Iliganons.

This, after Chief of Hospital Dr. Richillo Daguman said that the hospital has made some improvements.

“Isa sa proposed plans namo na target 3 to 5 years, ang expansion sa atong operating room kay nagkadaghan naman gyud ang atong pasyente,” he said during the 56th founding anniversary of GTLMH.

[One of our proposed plans, targeted 3 to 5 years, is the expansion of our operating room because the number of patients is really increasing.]

Daguman said they will also aim to add six more hemodialysis machines to make 15 operational machines. The nine machines were provided by the city government.

The hospital also seeks to increase the number of intensive care units beds from two to seven beds. They also plan to complete the 24 hours services of the hospital. He said that the hospital is not capable of having three shifts since they still need to train more nurses to increase manpower.

An eye clinic is also sought to be established to cater to patients, especially those who are diagnosed with diabetes that has eye problems. Specialists for heart and brain will also be hired.

The construction of a two-storey building with a capacity of 120 beds is hoped to be completed within the year.

“Amo pang piparocess ang plantilla sa health workers na madungag. Of course kung magexpand tag bed, magdungang ug staff,” he said.

[We are still processing the plantilla positions for the health workers who will be hired. Of course, if we expand the bed capacity, we should also add staff.]

The GTLMH will also upgrade its computerized tomography-scan machine from two slices to 32 slices. Moreover, the Department of Health also donated a magnetic resonance imaging machine.

Daguman also said that the Malasakit Center has been very helpful for indigent patients. He emphasized that patients are referred to the center and are then assessed if they are qualified to avail of the program. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
