ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – Inspiring young entrepreneurs, farmers, street vendors, Muslim and Indigenous entrepreneurs, and others were recognized here during the Business Awards on Nov. 15 organized by the city government.

Jimmy So-ong from Barangay Rogongon is elated as he won the Silver Award for Inspiring Indigenous People Entrepreneur of the year. He makes various products using abaca and rattan.

“Dako kaayo ko ug kalipay gumikan kay sa akong gibuhaton , pag-antos sa una, nakit-an gyud na akong product hinimoan is quality, nga product nga lig-on sya,” he said.

[I am very happy because from what I did, and the struggles I faced, they recognized that my products are good quality and durable.]

Meanwhile, Welfrido Navarro Poblete who has been in the hairdressing profession for more than 45 years is also happy because his hair salon has been recognized. He won the Silver Award for Best Hair Salon.

“Proud ko kay sa akong katigulangon, still now, I’m still standing in front of you nga naa gihapon ko parlor ng Hairline by Fred,” he said.

[I am proud because even now I am old, I’m still standing in front of you having this hair salon, Hairline by Fred.]

To recognize the best business establishments in the city, awards were also given such as Best Local Coffee Shop, Best Local Milk Tea House, Best Local Restaurant, and others. (LELAntonio/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
