ILIGAN CITY – After two years of doing online Diskwento Caravan (DC), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) -Lanao del Norte (LDN) in coordination with the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) conducted a blended Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan on August 18-19, 2022 at the Iligan City Public Plaza.

This is in preparation for the face-to-face opening of classes to all public schools on August 22, 2022. A total of 16 exhibitors participated the event, including the Iligan City Agriculture’s Office and a local Delivery Service, Mr. P. Express, who also happens to be a Kapatid Mentor ME Enrollee.

The Balik Eskwela DC was launched on August 18, 2022 wherein the participants were welcomed by Engr. Glen Villacin, the Director for the Local Investments & Promotion; Atty. Marlene Young, the Head of the Committee on Trade and Commerce, as well as Ms. Reggie Punongbayan who gave a short message to all the exhibitors, thanking them for the 10% discounts off their products, which is a very big help to the consumers especially this pandemic and with the price increase of certain commodities.

Luz G. Galda, the officer-in-charge Provincial Director of DTI LDN gave the rationale of what the Diskwento Caravan is all about.

During the event, two telecommunications networks provided the exhibitors with booths and free wifi for them to promote their products online. Some of the exhibitors printed their own Balik Eskwela Tarp and one also provided t-shirts for their staff as part of their promotional campaign for the event.

Over 1,874 household benefited from the said activity. Of this, eight were thru online transactions and were delivered by the delivery partner, Mr. P. Express. A total of P377,398.57 sales were achieved during the event. The highest sale was on school supplies which amounted to P236,945.18. (DTI LDN)
