COMPETITION MECHANICS:

I. Who are qualified to join?

1. The Competition is open to all bona fide resident of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte Philippines.

II. How to join?

General Guidelines:
1. The musical composition “Entry” must be an original work of the Contestant. It should be at least medium or fast song. The genres must be pop and have at least a touch of ethnic musical artistry. “Ethno-pop” to be specific.

2. The competition is divided into 2 song categories. There will be One (1) winner for the the Araw Ng Iligan song composition which promotes the “Love for Iligan” and One (1) winner for the Diyandi Festival.

3. The Entry must be related to, reflective of or appropriate with or about the “Love for Iligan” and “Diyandi Festival”

4. One composer is limited only to 1 song entry per category.

5. No fee to enter the contest.

6. Lyrics of the song must be in Visayan, Maranao, Higaunon or a combination of the three. One or a combination of musical instruments may be used. The entries may also be from full electronic production or without live instrumental accompaniments.

7. Each song entry must not exceed five (5) minutes, inclusive of intro and outro. Entries must be submitted in full accompaniment version and in minus – one.

8. The song entry must not have been used in any previous competition, commissioned by a third party, or have been commercially released. An entry once proven plagiarized through discovery of the organizing committees or via petitions (burden of proof from the petitioner) shall automatically be subject for disqualification.

9. Words with registered trademarks/brand names, explicit and offensive lyrics are strictly prohibited.

10. All entries shall be considered final once submitted and cannot be modified or altered.

11. In the event that an entry is selected as finalist, The CMO – Youth Affairs Iligan shall have unlimited right, worldwide and in perpetuity, to use, re-arrange, and make improvements to the musical composition.

12. Accepting of Entries will start on April 17, 2023.

13. Deadline of submission of entries shall be on May 8, 2023 at 12 noon.

14. Screening of entries shall be done after the deadline of submission with the same criteria as stated below. The Top 5 entries for each category will be announced at the City Mayor’s – Youth Affairs Page and will be notified through the Gmail provided by the band.

15. Recording of the Top 5 entries per category will be scheduled shortly after the official announcement. Performers will use their own instruments during the recording. Each entry can be allowed a maximum of 2 times during the recording thus, a thorough rehearsal shall be done before proceeding to the recording date. Non-adherence to this item of the guidelines shall be subject for a 2 points deductions per judge for the Final Performance.

16. The entries will be posted on the official Facebook account of City Tourism Office.

17. The entries may be shared and the entries with the greatest number of “heart reactions” shall serve as part of the audience impact criteria. In case that mass gatherings will still be limited, the heart/reactions shall serve as the full basis for audience impact criteria. A special award for most reacted recording video will also be given.

18. Winners for both categories shall be called to perform during the celebration on Araw ng Iligan.

19. Winners for each category will be awarded with the following cash prize:

Grand Winner Php 30,000.00
1st Runner Up Php 20, 000.00
2nd Runner Up Php 10,000.00
Consolation Prizes Php 5,000.00
People’s Choice Php 1,000.00

20. Winning entries will receive the recognition as the Official Songs for Araw ng Iligan 2023 and Diyandi Festival 2023.

21. Performing Band have a maximum of 8 members including instrumentalists. IDs and Barangay Certification of the entry senders are required as proof of residency.

1. Only one (1) entry per category per contestant shall be accepted.
