ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – 2,328 job vacancies in 22 local establishments and eight overseas agencies are offered through the Iligan Fiesta Job Fair on Sept. 14 to 15 at Robinsons Place Iligan.
In line with the Annual Fiesta Celebration, the City Government of Iligan thru its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) partnered with the Department of Labor and Employment-10 (DOLE-10), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA-10), and Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan, Inc. (CCIFII) to conduct the Job Fair.
Katherine Xyra Angar, officer-in-charge of PESO Iligan, said the conduct of the Job Fair was pursued to make the Diyandi Festival celebration more enjoyable and more productive.
Meanwhile, Jules Verne Padilla, executive assistant and chief of staff of City Government Iligan said the Job Fair is one of the activities that were implemented to develop the economic skills of the residents.
“Part ni sya sa economic vibrancy. Kay kusog naman ang ekonomiya sa dakbayan sa Iligan, gusto pod nato tagaan ug opportunities atong mga kataw-han labi na ang mga kabatan-onan na makatrabaho ug makahigayon ug panginabuhian,” he said.
[This is part of the economic vibrancy. The economy of the city of Iligan is strong, hence, we also want to give opportunities to our people, especially the youth to have jobs and have a chance to earn a living.]The top available positions are nurses, bus conductors, drivers, under chassis mechanic, and sales associates.
“Karong pandemya daghan kaayong nawad-an ug trabaho. So kaning Job Fair, usa ni ka remedy, or intervention nato para makahatag ug employment sa atong kauban dinhi sa Iligan City ug neighboring municipalities,” said Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office head, Safrali S. Cabili. He also said that the employment rate in the city has increased.
[In this pandemic, many people have lost their jobs. So this Job Fair, is one of our remedies, or interventions, to provide employment to the people here in Iligan City and neighboring municipalities.]Some of the local companies that joined the Job Fair include Bella’s Kitchen, Concentrix, Pryce Gas, Iligan Medical College Center, Rural Transit, Alrose Group of Companies, and Ace Hardware.
