ILIGAN CITY, August 31 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Iligan City assisted two (2) alleged members of the Maute Group who surrendered to the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Iligan City and were received by the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Committee headed by City Mayor Frederick Siao.

According to PNP City Director Dominador Estrada, the two (2) male surrenderers namely, Ahmad and Orak (not their real names), are extremist operatives in Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Iligan City. Further, the two also surrendered firearms which include a .45 caliber handgun and a rocket propelled grenade.

DILG City Director Maria Maida Daniot said that the surrenderers will now be processed under the E-CLIP where they will begin their reintegration process and will receive at least P65,000.00 worth of assistance packages per person administered by the DILG.

Ahmad and Orak are now considered Former Violent Extremists (FVEs), and are already in the custody of local authorities for their safety.
