In preparation for the observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) come November 18-December 12, 2022, the City Mayor’s Office, through its Gender and Development Office, spearheaded a planning meeting to plot out activities with the DILG, GAD focal persons of the twenty-two (22) departments of the City Government, Representative from the Office of City Councilor Queenie Belmonte, Chairperson of the Committee on Women, GAD and Family, academe and other stakeholders.

The activity aims to solicit ideas and come up with a calendar of activities for the duration of the campaign that will promote awareness of VAW and create an impact on the employees and the community through collaborative efforts among key players in the LGU and extend its mobilization to the community and private organizations.

LGOO Villebette Sato initiated the discussion of the planning activity by presenting the Department’s efforts to end violence against women and emphasized that campaigns should not be limited only to IECs but also to activities that have an impact on the victims and even the perpetrators, through the identification of root causes.
