ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – The 55th Engineer Brigade (55th Ebde) of the Philippine Army, together with the city government and the Department of the Interior and Local Government inaugurated the newly-rehabilitated 3.5-kilometer farm-to-market road from Barangay Kalilangan to Sitio Old Rogongon.

The rehabilitation was implemented by the 554th Engineer Battalion with funds from the city government as part of the Convergence Areas for Peace and Development program in the operationalization of Executive Order 70 by Iligan City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

“Ang part ng Army Engineers is only rehabilitation. It does not include the concreting of roads. Ito ay para lang madaanan, maayos nang konti, enough for the populace and communities to bring their products pababa and LGUs to bring basic services dito sa disadvantaged communities,” said BGen. Irineo Sebastian, commanding officer of the 55th EBde.

“The Army Engineers’ part is only rehabilitation. It does not include the concreting of roads. This is just to make roads accessible enough for the populace and communities to bring their products down the city and for LGUs to bring basic services to the disadvantaged communities.]

Alimoding Mansumayan, chairperson of Brgy. Kalilangan expressed gratitude for the completion of the newly-rehabilitated road from their barangay to Sitio Old Rogongon. He thanked Allah(God) for giving blessings through the government agencies that brought services and programs to their community.

Moreover, Engr. Venerabdo Bordeos of the City Planning and Development Office hoped that the residents would give importance to the projects implemented by the government.
