The Indigenous Peoples (IPs) of Iligan City converged at Barangay Rogongon for the Panuu Hu Dumalondong celebration, a Higa-onon Tribal Summit, last October 28, 2022. Joined by the tribal leaders/chieftains of different tribes of the City as well as of other Provinces, it aims to inculcate to the younger IP communities the value of their customs and traditions and to sustain it in the next generations to come. On top of it, it is also a celebration of the year’s abundance of the IP community.

The activity was also graced by different personalities and local officials in the City. OIC-City Director Maria Maida B. Daniot, emphasizes the contribution of the IP communities in sustaining peace and development, especially in far-flung areas by cooperating and coordinating with the government to ensure that appropriate services are being delivered in their communities. She highly encourages the IP communities to continue to be active partners of the government in maintaining peace and security free from threats of local terrorist groups.
