A sea of purple composed of equally empowered women flocked to the Iligan City Public Plaza in celebration of the 2023 International Women’s Day yesterday, March 8, 2023.

This year, the celebration focuses on the theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” it recognizes and celebrates the women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education, and calling attention to the online harassment many women face.

One with all women around the world in this celebration and as an empowered woman herself, City Director Maria Maida Daniot graced the said activity as one of the guests of honor to deliver her message of support.

In her message, Daniot shared a brief history of how the celebration came about and emphasized the role of the parents in educating the young generation about the importance of taking part in the promotion of gender equality in the family to strengthen gender sensitivity and elevate a socially developed generation.
