Last week, Acting Program Manager Villebette Sato served as a resource person discussing topics on the Roles of LGU on DRRM, Operation Listo Protocols, and SGLG DRRM Governance Area indicators during the conduct of Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Orientation for Local Chief Executives (LCEs) and Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers (LDRRMOs) of Iligan City and the Province of Lanao del Norte last week, September 16th.

Present during the event are the LCEs of Lanao del Norte headed by their Provincial Governor Imelda Dimaporo and the LDRRMOs.

Governor Dimaporo emphasized during the open forum the crucial role of LCEs and LDRRMOs before, during, and after disasters. She added that DRRM is a very serious aspect of governance and that it should be given preferential attention not just by local officials, but more so by the community since lives would be at stake if taken for granted.

LGOO Sato, highlighted maximizing utilization of the LISTO manual and adhering to its protocols, and even improving at the local level whatever actions deemed appropriate to their locality during emergency situations. She encourages everyone present to promote operation LISTO in their LGUs. Disaster resiliency could not be achieved if one sector in the community is left behind. Hence the goal is to have everyone on board in the quest for disaster prevention and mitigation.
