The Iligan City Tourism Office would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the Dinagat Islands Provincial Office for graciously hosting our Benchmarking Activity held from July 7 to 9, 2023.
Our first day commenced with a Courtesy Call at the Dinagat Islands Provincial Capitol, where we received a warm welcome from the Provincial Governor Hon. Nilo P. Demerey, represented by his wife and the 1st Lady of the Dinagat Islands Province, Marichu Demerey. We were also greeted by Assistant Provincial Administrator Conchita Macalua, Board Member Hon. Errol Conrad B. Dela Cruz, Provincial Tourism and Culture Officer Benlen D. Navas, Daryl Mae Lopez, and the entire delegation of the Province of the Dinagat Islands. Following an engaging discussion on the current state of the Dinagat Islands, particularly its Tourism Sector, we embarked on a Land Tour to explore their most iconic destinations, including Islander’s Castle and PBMA Shrine.
The second day began with Libjo Island Hopping, where we had the opportunity to visit environmentally diverse tourist spots such as the Hagakhak Rock Formation, Pangabangan Tidal Pool, Punta Buena Suerte, and the Kisses Islet. The Provincial Tourism and Culture Office Staff graciously served as our knowledgeable guides, equipped to answer any inquiries about their operational strategies and share intriguing historical and cultural insights specific to the area.
As our stay came to a close, we wholeheartedly expressed our gratitude to the Provincial Tourism and Culture Affairs, especially to our guides, Sir Al and Sir Prince from the same office, for their exceptional dedication during our tour and their warm hospitality. This endeavor has allowed the Iligan City Tourism Office to gain deeper understanding of the unique narratives and traditions associated with our respective cities and their significance to the Mindanao Island. Moreover, through this Benchmarking Activity, we aim to foster stronger ties with the Dinagat Islands and contribute to the growth of the Mindanao Tourism Sector.
