In a concerted effort to reinforce peace and security while addressing the challenges of substance abuse, the Peace and Order Council (POC) and City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) recently convened for their 1st Quarter Joint Meeting. The meeting, held yesterday at Sweet Mommy’s Restaurant, brought together key stakeholders and decision-makers to discuss pivotal issues and unveil strategic plans for the year ahead.

The meeting featured a comprehensive agenda, highlighting the following key points:

𝟭. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗦 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁
One of the major highlights of the meeting was the presentation of the 2024 POPS (Peace and Order Program Support) Fund Budget. The financial plan outlined strategic allocations to bolster the city’s peacekeeping efforts, ensuring that necessary resources are directed towards vital programs and initiatives.

𝟮. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁
Presented by DILG City Director Maria Maida Daniot, the Secretariat’s Report provided a comprehensive overview of the activities and progress made since the last joint meeting. This report not only highlighted the achievements but also identified areas that require further attention and collaboration.

𝟯. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗢𝗖
In a move geared towards enhancing the efficiency of the council, a discussion on the reconstitution of the POC was a focal point. This involved evaluating the current structure, roles, and responsibilities of council members, with an emphasis on optimizing collaboration and synergy among participating agencies.

Underscoring the commitment to eradicating drug abuse, the meeting addressed the Barangay Drug Clearing Program for 2024.
