Iligan City Police Office under the leadership of PCOL REINANTE B DELOS SANTOS, City Director vehemently denies allegations that Iligan City is not a safe place to live, work and to do business according to some individuals as posted in their social media accounts.

As a matter of fact, to justify his claims, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) conducted a survey last September 22 to October 6, 2023 in promoting a peaceful, integrated, and globally competitive Mindanao in terms of trust, safety, respect and satisfaction index. Iligan city was graded excellent in all of the four categories: TRUST – 91%; SAFETY – 91; RESPECT – 91%; and overall Satisfaction – 93%. The result of the survey clearly shows that Iligan City is still considered as one of the peaceful and safest cities in Mindanao as portrayed otherwise in social media by individuals who were either driven by personal interest or political motives just to embarrassed or destroy the credibility of the leaders governing the City.

PCOL DELOS SANTOS calls for unity and solidarity, pleading our leaders to set aside political colors and personal interest, instead focus on good governance to ensure delivery of social services needed by the people of Iligan City.

PCOL DELOS SANTOS reminded all bloggers, to be responsible in their social media post, ensure that all the information are verified factual and are beneficial to our community. Further, he reminded them that freedom of expression is not absolute, it is subject to existing laws. Furthermore, he warned all bloggers that whenever the police finds them violating the existing laws, they will not hesitate to file appropriate case, ensure their arrest and putting them behind bars.
