In a resolute move to fortify community safety and elevate the capabilities of Barangay Tanods, the City Government of Iligan thru its Public Order and Safety Command Center (POSCC), in collaboration with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Iligan City has launched the Barangay Tanod Skills Enhancement (BTSE) Training at the Brgy. Sta. Elena Gymnasium last July 12 to 13, 2023. Aimed at equipping these dedicated community guardians with upgraded skills and knowledge, this initiative is set to elevate their role in maintaining peace and order throughout the city.

Recognizing the vital role of Barangay Tanods in maintaining peace and order, the DILG Iligan City has taken proactive measures to empower these dedicated community volunteers. The Skills Enhancement Training program, conducted in partnership with pool of trainers coming from the City Government of Iligan, Iligan City Police Office (ICPO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), covered a diverse range of essential topics, ensuring a holistic approach to their development.

The comprehensive training curriculum encompasses crucial areas such as crowd management, disaster response, crime prevention, community relations, conflict resolution, and legal updates. Through engaging workshops and practical simulations, the Tanods are exposed to realistic scenarios, enabling them to apply their newfound skills in real-life situations effectively.
