PCOL REINANTE B DELOS SANTOS, City Director, Iligan City Police Office reported to PBGEN LAWRENCE BALDAN COOP, Regional Director PRO 10, A Police Response to the Shooting Incident at Quezon Ave., Brgy. Poblacion, Iligan City.

Iligan City- At around 4:25 PM of July 17, 2023, a radio call received from Escarlet base informing this station a shooting incident that transpired at Quezon Avenue, Brgy. Poblacion, this City. Further, it was flashed alarm thru radio that the Toyota Conquest bearing plate no. KAK 1436 boarded by the suspects was seen traversing going to Brgy. Pala-o, Iligan City.

Immediately Intel operatives of this station together with our Station Commander PMAJ FELIX N RABAGO, JR. proceeded and responded to the crime scene and saw the victim identified as JUNAID PUNGUINAGUINA y MAPUNDARA, male, 43 y.o, married, businessman and a resident Bubong Ramain, Lanao del Sur who has a blood at his right butt. The victim stated that he was shoot by two or more suspects boarded the said vehicle. Immediately, responding police officers called an ambulance and brought the victim to Mindanao Sanitarium Hospital for medical treatment. Then, a hot pursuit was conducted by personnel of this station, while Mobile Vios Patrol 9 PSSg Abdul Alindo and PAT Jan Elfred Quilinguen tailed the run away vehicle going to C3 road and followed by Mobile Patrol Trooper 5, driven by PSSg Arnel Pitogo, crew Pat Genovia together with IOC PCMS Alexander N Tapac, and intercepted the fleeing vehicle at Prk 1, Merila, Brgy. Ubaldo Laya, Iligan City and successfully arrested the suspects and immediately brought to Police Station 5 for proper disposition. Later, suspects were identified as ABDULGAFUR POTAWAN y MACARAYA, male, 31 y.o, married and a res. of Valencia, Bukidnon; ALADIN ANDANG y MACARAYA, male, 43 y.o, married and a resident of Ceanuri, Camague, Brgy. Tubod, Iligan City; and ABDUL RASHID MACARAYA y PACASUM, male, 30 y.o, married and a res. of Marantao, Lanao del Sur. While the CRIME SCENE A and CRIME SCENE B were processed by the RFU 10, led by PMAJ DIERYL DELOS SANTOS REUYAN, Officer-In-Charge.

At around 6:00 in the evening the said victim was released as Out patient at the aforesaid hospital with graze gunshot wound on his right butt and with stable condition. After that, he immediately proceeded to this station. Investigation revealed, that the victim driven his vehicle Seudiffused silver FORD Ranger XLT Pick-up type with Plate No. NDM 6904, dropped his children and driver at Gaisano Mall, Roxas Avenue, Brgy Villaverde, this city, then he proceeded to City Proper, upon reaching at Quezon Ave., Brgy. Poblacion, Iligan City, he looked at this left side window and saw the suspect’s vehicle suddenly overtook him and after that he saw the said suspects armed with two undetermined Fire Arms and shot him several times. But he was able to jump outside his vehicle and run away for safety. And the suspect’s vehicle speed off heading towards Gaisano old. Then, police officers responded and the victim who was bloody brought by an ambulance to the said hospital for immediate medical attention.

ICOW the above references, please be informed that Iligan City Forensic Unit, Tipanoy, Iligan City, led by PMAJ DIERYL DELOS SANTOS REUYAN, Officer-In-Charge processed the Crime Scene A and found from inside the victim’s vehicle (Fused Silver Ford Ranger with plate no. NDM 6904) are the following physical evidence to wit; a. one (1) deformed fired bullet; b. two (2) metal fragment of fired bullet; c. one (!) metal fragment of fired bullet; d. one (!) metal fragment of fired bullet; e. one (1) deformed fired bullet; f. one (!) metal fragment of fired bullet; g. one (!) metal fragment of fired bullet; h. two (2) metal fragment of fired bullet, and at the Crime Scene found are the following to wit; a. one (1) fired cartridge case of .9mm alleged, b. one (1) unit Ford Ranger Pick-up with plate no. NDM 6904; c. one (1) fired cartridge case of Cal. .45 alleged; ; d. one (1) fired cartridge case of Cal. .45 alleged; e. one (1) fired cartridge case of .9mm alleged; f. one (1) fired cartridge case of Cal. .45 alleged; f. one (1) fired cartridge case of Cal. .45 alleged; g. one (1) fired cartridge case of Cal. .45 alleged; h. one (1) fired cartridge case of Cal. .45 alleged; i. one (1) fired bullet; j. one (1) fired cartridge case of Cal. .45; k. one (1) fired bullet; l. one (1) fired cartridge case of Cal. .45. While at the Crime Scene B physical evidence found inside the suspect’s car (Toyota Hi-Lux Conquest Pick-up type with plate no. KAK 1436) are the following to wit; a. one (1) fired cartridge case of .9mm; b. one (1) fired cartridge case of .9mm; c. one (1) fired cartridge case of .cal. 45; d. one (1) unit of TAURUS Cal. 9mm pistol with Serial No. 1GC23308 chamber loaded inserted with magazine containing 10 ammos.; and d. one (1) magazine containing six ammos. All the physical evidences were in the custody of the Iligan Forensic Unit, including the Fire Arm recovered from the Crime Scene B for laboratory examination.

Further, this station conducted thorough investigation and found out that the motive of the said incident was a REDO/Community Initiated Violence.
