ILIGAN CITY (PIA)–The Department of Public Works and Highways turned over the newly-constructed Infirmary Building and the 310 meters road to the 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade here on October 6.

Named after the Limunsudan Falls, the building will serve as the treatment facility of the Brigade to ensure that the well-being of the soldiers is given importance.

The construction of the said projects was made possible through the Congressional Initiative of former Iligan City Representative and current Mayor Frederick Siao.

“Malaking bagay ang infirmary building na ito. Matagal na kasing panahon na yung unit natin walang medical facility, so nagpapasalamat tayo na nagsponsor ng ating building. Kasama din ang 310 meters main road. Malaking bagay ito sa accessiblity sa loob ng kampo,” said Magbalantay Brigade Commander BGen. Rey Alemania.

[This infirmary building is a big thing for us. Our unit has not had a medical facility for a long time, so are thankful for sponsoring our building. It also includes 310 meters of main road. It is a big thing for the accessibility inside the camp.]

Alemania said they had to travel to the 1st Infantry Division in Zamboanga del Sur or the 4th Infantry Division in Cagayan de Oro City to seek medical services. He is also elated with the ongoing construction of other infrastructure projects in the Brigade.

Meanwhile, Siao reiterated his commitment to supporting the Brigade.

“Being with the city government karon, naningkamot kita nga matagaan pod ug suporta para sa umaabot nga tuig and macontinue nato ang development sa kampo,” he said.

The Department of Health-10 is also committed to providing technical assistance and limited logistics support to the newly-constructed Infirmary Building. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
