PCOL MICHAEL M PAREJA, City Director, Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) reported to PBG ROLANDO B ANDUYAN, regarding the invitation of Sixteen (16) students who participated on a protest/rally at Rotonda, Brgy. Palao IC at around 11:00 AM on June 12, 2020 and violated the health protocols on Social Distancing.

Brgy. Pala-o, Iligan City. On June 12, 2020 at around 10:00 in the morning, a group of students from MSU/IIT conducted a protest/rally at Rotonda, Brgy. Pala-o Iligan City. The protest demands for the junking of the Anti-Terrorism Bill, Mass Testing for COVID 19, and other issues that anchored on social freedom as the Independence Day was celebrated.

In the midst of the rally, the health protocols of social distancing were not observed prompting the personnel from Iligan City Police Station 5, and City Intelligence Unit, ICPO to intervene in the activity at around 11:00 AM and invited the participants to Iligan City Police Station 5 for the subsequent issuance of Citation Tickets.

During the investigation, Three (3) personalities were found out not belonging to the group and only ran because of panic. The Thirteen (13) personalities however who were found out among the group called STAND IIT and ILIGAN YOUTH ADVOCATE and violated the health protocols were issued Citation Tickets.

The immediate release of the accosted students was delayed because of the problem arising from the procedural documentation of the personal circumstances of the subjects which were opposed by a volunteer lawyer, Atty. Kristine Esther F. Campilan.

At around 6:00 PM of June 12, 2020, the aforesaid students along with Three (3) others were released from police custody and were received by their respective parents. The release was also witnessed by Atty. Leo Zaragoza, Iligan City based lawyer who helped in the mediation process.
