The Tourism Triangle Development Zone Stakeholders Forum was successfully conducted on March 24, 2023, at the Macapagal-Macaraeg Heritage House in Brgy. Buruun, this city. The forum was attended by various stakeholders in the area, including resort owners, barangay council, LGU offices, partner industries, and members of the Technical Working Group.

The primary objective of the forum was to develop a proposed Master Plan for the TTDZ by identifying the problems at hand in the area and the potential and possible resolutions for such. The stakeholders were grouped into five for a breakout session and focus group dynamics, identifying the challenges that the triangle zone and its stakeholders are currently facing, and the possible resolutions for those problems.

The Forum was opened by the City Tourism Officer-in-Charge, Ms. Hanna Mae T. Padilla, who emphasized the significance of developing a Master Plan for the area to expedite the tourism triangle zone’s transformation into an economic zone. The Senior Tourism Operations Officer of the City Tourism Office, Ms. Shayma L. Daison, presented the Tourism Development Plan 2022-2026, highlighting the objectives, goals, and vision of the city’s tourism, including the three main proposed projects under the Tourism Triangle Development Zone Program: Proposed Tourism Triangle Development Master Plan, Iligan Tourism Triangle Development Economic Zone, and the Tinago Falls-Resort Development.

Moreover, the Supervising Tourism Operations Officer and currently the Economic Sector of the City Planning and Development Office, Ms. Agnes M. Clerigo-Maingat, presented the Historical Overview of the Tourism Triangle Development Zone, which included the different zoning maps of the three barangays and the current challenges hindering the TTDZ’s development.

The Vice Chairwoman of the TTDZ-TWG and the Committee Chairwoman on Tourism, Coun. Michelle E. Sweet, showed her full support to the development of the tourism triangle zone, motivating all the key players and stakeholders by mentioning the existing budgeted plans and projects in the area that she had been legislating for a while now. This gave the stakeholders more motivation and enthusiasm in achieving the goals and vision for the Tourism Triangle Economic Zone.

The Forum was closed by a message from the City Planning Development Office Head, Mr. Venerando Bordeos, thanking all the participants and key players of the TTDZ for sharing their ideas and helping to come up with even better solutions and plans in achieving the goals and objectives for the TTDZ.
