On December 27, 2023, a joint task force composed of representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), and City Local Government Unit (CLGU) – Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) conducted an inspection in Iligan City in compliance with the DILG Unnumbered Memorandum that reiterated the guidelines on the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of firecrackers.

The inspection aimed to ensure that businesses and establishments adhered to the regulations set forth by the DILG regarding the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of firecrackers, especially in preparation for the upcoming New Year’s celebration.

During the inspection, the task force thoroughly assessed the compliance of vendors with the prescribed guidelines, including proper permits, safety measures, and adherence to product specifications. The team also provided information and assistance to ensure the stakeholders were fully aware of the regulations and guidelines.

Overall, the joint task force’s inspection aimed to promote public safety and order in the community by upholding the responsible sale and use of firecrackers and ensuring the proper implementation of regulations set by the DILG DILG Memorandum Circular Nos. 2017-105, 2017-168, 2018-216, and Executive Order No. 28, series of 2017 which was issued to reiterate and provide stricter regulations to ensure further public safety, order, and national security, and the enhancement of cultural traditions.
