ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – – The 2nd Mechanized Infantry “Magbalantay” Brigade of the Philippine Army held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-constructed barracks building named Tinago Falls, April 5.

The construction of the two-storey building was implemented through the Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) program of the Department of National Defense and the Department of Public Works and Highways.

The building has 297 sqm floor area and can accommodate more than 100 junior non-commissioned officers and operational control unit officers.

“Importante gyud kaayo ni para maboost ang morale and welfare sa mga tropa. Nindot man jud nga naa in-ani, home away from home,” said Magbalantay Brigade Civil Military Operations Officer Major Jovane Roble.

(This is very important to boost the morale and welfare of the troops. It’s a nice place for the troops, home away from home.)

With a P15-million fund, the construction started in April 2022 and was completed in April 2023. The construction was made possible with the congressional initiative of former Iligan City Representative and current Mayor Frederick Siao. This was also endorsed by National Economic and Development Authority-10 Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora Cariño at the Regional Development Council (RDC)-10.

One of the functions of RDC is to coordinate planning, investment programming ,budgeting implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects.

Cariño lauded the leadership of Magbalantay Brigade Commander Brigadier General Rey Alemania that pushed for the improvement of their camp. Under his term, six buildings have been constructed and renovated with funding support from the government and at the same time congressional initiative of former Representative Siao and Lanao del Norte 1st District Representative Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo.

“Kaning 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, maabtik jud kaayo sila. Daghan na kaayo ug gwapo nga buildings (The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade is really active. Lots of buildings have been constructed). Thanks sa commanders nga nagpropose especially kay BGen Rey Alemania,” said Cariño.

Moreover, Siao reaffirmed his commitment to support the Brigade.

“As always, nakita nako unsa ka importante ang AFP, sa syudad. Mismo ako 100% committed sa ilahang mga participation and their role sa community. I am committed nga mutabang kanunay, whatever atong matabang kanila,” he said.
