Iligan City joyfully celebrates its 73rd Charter Day held every 16th day of June at Anahaw Amphitheater in honor of its establishment as a chartered city of Lanao del Norte on June 16, 1950. Iligan City Mayor Frederick Siao delivered his statement, highlighting that Iligan City is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country in terms of population and economy. It is also at the forefront of Mindanao’s progress as a city of technology, culture, peace, and sustainable growth.

Attended by the city government employees, partner government agencies and private stakeholders, academe, and community leaders, the historic event honors the rich history of Iligan City and its milestones.

Now, Iligan is one of the epicenters for trade and industry in the Southern Philippines and among the most highly urbanized cities in the country with its rapidly growing population and economy that will definitely conform to the present time and prospectively head for a better future for all Iliganons.

During the event, the Iligan City National High School of the City Central District was also awarded as the champion for the Kasikas sa Kadalanan 2023 Street Dancing, bagging the awards for Best in Costume and Most Creative.
