Personnel from Iligan City Police Station 1 (ICPS1) successfully apprehended two individuals for violating the liquor ban at Purok 3A, Brgy. Hinaplanon, Iligan City on October 29, 2023.

COMELEC Resolution No. 10924 outlines specific regulations that prohibit the sale, distribution, and consumption of alcoholic beverages during the election period to prevent potential incidents that could disrupt the electoral process.

The suspects were arrested after a concerned citizen informed the police of two individuals engaged in a drinking spree at the aforementioned place. Police then immediately responded and caught the suspects in the act of a drinking spree.

Confiscated during the operation were a bottle of San Miguel Pale Pilsen and a transparent glass.

Arrested suspects were brought to Iligan City Police Station 1, Iligan City Police Office for proper disposition. A case for the violation of BP Blg. 881, Section 261 (dd) (1) will be filed against the suspects.

Acting Regional Director of PRO10, PBGen Ricardo G Layug Jr., emphasized the significance of the liquor ban and urged public cooperation.

“We urge the public to cooperate with us, report any violations of the liquor ban, and refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages during this critical period. Your active involvement contributes to a peaceful electoral process in our region,” he said.

Furthermore, PRO10 continues to encourage the public to report any violations or suspicious activities related to the upcoming elections.
