In a concerted effort to raise awareness and advocate for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Lanao del Norte Provincial Office, in collaboration with the Local Price Coordinating Council of Iligan and the Iligan City Local Government Unit (LGU-Iligan), organized a Consumer Awareness Month Press Briefing at Robinsons Place Iligan on October 2, 2023.

The event aimed to shed light on the importance of SCP, particularly in Iligan City, and its significant role in shaping consumer behavior. In addition, this initiative aligns with the ongoing celebration of the Business, ICT, Science and Technology, and Cooperative Month observed by the LGU-Iligan throughout October.

Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) is an essential concept that emphasizes responsible and environmentally friendly consumption practices. It is a critical strategy for addressing the challenges of environmental degradation and resource depletion. By promoting SCP, the event sought to encourage individuals, businesses, and communities to make informed choices that reduce their environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Key figures from the DTI Lanao del Norte Provincial Office, the LGU-Iligan, and the Local Price Coordinating Council of Iligan were present at the press briefing. They collectively emphasized the importance of SCP in achieving sustainable development goals and preserving the environment for future generations.

The collaboration between government agencies and the local government underscores their commitment to creating a more environmentally conscious and responsible community in Iligan City. It is hoped that through education and advocacy efforts, consumers will be empowered to make sustainable choices that benefit both the environment and society as a whole.

As Consumer Awareness Month continues, the organizers plan to conduct various activities and programs to further engage the public in conversations about sustainable consumption and production practices. This collaborative effort is a significant step forward in building a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future for Iligan City and the entire country.
